What is #ARSE2010?

It's a gratuitous hashtag of course!

No, ARSE is a deep and meaningful concept, and started life as the Annual Random Scenic Extravaganza. The purpose of this was for Al and Catherine to escape the day-to-day life of garden designers and get out and about to actually see some gardens.

The first ARSE, ARSE2006, encompassed a large swathe of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

ARSE2007 took the intrepid duo to the Cotswolds and included a trip to Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons, home of Raymond Blanc's kitchen garden. 

There was no ARSE2008, due to having to earn enough money to pay for dinner the previous year at Le Manoir.

In 2009, ARSE returned, and this time headed for some European ARSE action. After meeting up in Paris, we headed for the Chaumont garden festival, and also plenty of Chateaux. ARSE2009 is known by its French terminology, L'ARSE2009.

Which brings us nicely up to date. ARSE2010 involved two days centred on Chichester, Essex, then a spot of the Chelsea Flower Show for some light relief. And Day 4 was spent driving around South East and South West London looking at Yellow Book gardens.

And as the weather warms up unseasonably early, thoughts turn to ARSE2011. Will there be one? Will it be in North Carolina, Catherine's new home state. Will there be two Morgan twins in tow? Stay tuned for ARSE updates...
