Highlights of an afternoon at the Hannah Peschar sculpture garden, near Ockley in Surrey. Note: there is lots of sculpture but no tearoom nor any abstract representation of a tearoom.

My favourite sculpture? The pale pink marble monolith with a dripping pool of 'molten' pewter.

Emergency_passport

The pros and cons of the Emergency British passport, aka the Emergency Travel Document or ETD. Based on personal experience in Berlin.

Pros:

  • It's limited edition and, dare I say it, rather swish in a Pimm's and croquet kind of manner
  • It's cream rather than the more usual maroon
  • It's exciting to visit foreign embassies
  • Embassy officials are exceedingly polite and pleasant


Cons:

  • It's pricey (115 Euros)
  • You don't get to keep it for long.
  • It marks you out as being either unlucky, forgetful or hopeless.
  • You must still pay £77.50 for a replacement when you get back to the UK.
  • The LS01 (Lost or stolen passport) form is a rather dull read.
  • It may slow you down at airport security desks as staff will treat you with suspicion/awe
